Hawaii Governor. A native of Rochester, New York, he served as the first Governor of Hawaii from 1959 to 1962. He also served as a Candidate for the Hawaii Territorial Senate in 1956, Governor of Hawaii Territory from 1957 to 1959, Delegate to the Republican National Convention from Hawaii in 1960, and as a Candidate for United States Senator from Hawaii in 1976. A veteran of World War II, he also served in the United States Navy.
