She was the daughter of Nancy Malinda Sutton and Daniel D. Hennon. She married twice and survived both husbands. On Feb 24, 1937, in Auburn, IN, she married Paul E. Williams. Then, on Oct 10, 1987, she married Harry VanGunten.
Surviving are a son, Dennis L. (Shirley) Williams, Oldsmar, FL; a daughter, Pauline (Nile) Sroufe, Elida; a step-daughter, Karen (Lee) Price; and eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are Gary and Paul Williams; a grandson, Ryan Williams; a great-granddaughter, Stephanie Calvert; a great-great-grandson, Derek Clark; two brothers: Eugene and Byron; and three sisters: Marguerite Mollison, Eleanor Billing and Agnes Cox.
A 1936 graduate of Lima South High School, she was a long time member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Grace Church choir and of the Senior Citizens ragtime band. She belonged to two singing groups, "The Monica Stevens Singers" and "The Belles and Beaus", who volunteered at nursing homes entertaining patients. She was retired from The Huntington Bank and had also worked at The Metropolitan Bank and The Lakeview Bank. She was a very talented person who loved to knit, crochet, paint ceramics, quilt and embroidery. She also had a love for poetry, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She was lovingly called "G G" by her great-grandchildren. She also loved Facebook for keeping up with her family.
Services will be at Chiles-Lamn Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel, with Pastors David Harris and Adraian Sunday officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
