Gertrude Marie Derrick, 82, a resident of 8370 Route 442 Highway, Muncy, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at Geisinger Medical Center at Danville. Born in Altoona, Blair County, on Sunday, Sept. 16, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edward E. and Mary Josephine (Eckenrode) Schirf.
She was the widow of Lehman E. Derrick, who preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1987.
Gert was a 1941 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School.
She was an avid bingo player and a social member of American Legion Post 268 at Muncy.
She is survived by one daughter, Anne M. Derrick of Muncy; two sons, Edward L. Derrick of Muncy and John F. (Andrea) Derrick of Penfield, N.Y.; one brother, Herbert Schirf of Altoona; two sisters, Esther Rickabaugh and Pauline Schirf of Altoona; and three granddaughters, Megan, Alyssa and Carly Derrick. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and bingo friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Vincent Schirf.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19. Interment will be in the Moreland Baptist Cemetery, Moreland Twp., Lycoming County. Friends may call on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
