J.T. Tinney, 87, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, December 1, at Windsor Specialty Care, Cedar Falls.

He was born September 21, 1928, in Marianna, Ark, the son of J.D. and Ora Lee Neal Tinney. He was with his partner, Jessie Mae Hall Tinney, from 1955 until her death December 29, 1980.

J.T. was employed at the John Deere Foundry from 1973 until his retirement on September 30, 1988.

Survivors include two sons; Andrew Perkins and James (Charlene) Humphrey all of Waterloo; three daughters, Mattie Walker, Ruthie Humphrey both of Waterloo, and Mattie Denise (Edward) Thrower of Benton Harbor, Mich; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a grandson; Julius James Humphrey; a son-in-law, Ocie Walker.

Services 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 5, at Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Public visitation one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street is in charge of arrangements.
