Civil War Union Army Surgeon. He was commissioned as Surgeon of the 27th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on October 9, 1862, and served until honorably mustered out on July 2, 1863.

He filed for US Army Invalid Veteran Pension on July 28, 1904 (Application #1231450, Certificate #1099164, New Jersey).

On September 22, 1913 his wife, Margaret Richmond, filed for a US Army Widow's Pension (Application #1014585, Certificate #815826).
