Clarinda Orr was the daughter of Sample Orr and Susannah Parrot/Pirate, and the first wife of Nathan Cornell. She was born about 1834 in Fayette AL. Sample Orr's family appeared in both the 1830 and 1840 census for Fayette. The Orr family lived in Pontotoc MS in 1850. Clarinda married Nathan Cornell there 21 Aug 1851, apparently in a double ceremony with Nathan's sister, Rebecca Cornell, who married George B. Stanford. Both the Sample Orr family and the Nathan Cornell family moved to the area of Hunt County, TX likely about 1852. Based on the birth locations of Clarinda's children, tax records for Nathan Cornell and for Sample Orr, the Cornell family moved to Texas between 1852 and 1857.

She is likely buried in Hunt or Hopkins County, TX. Clarinda is last found in or near Donelton Township, which straddles the Hunt and Hopkins county line, about two miles west of Miller Grove, TX. Donelton no longer exists, but the cemetery remains. She is possibly buried there, but no stone or burial record has been found.
