An old man by the name of Thompson was fatally hurt in a runaway in the northeast part of the city Friday evening while he was moving his household goods from them Iz Crittenden home to the shack north of the east side livery barn. He was driving a team belonging to the Houpt Milling Co. and in some manner the team became frightened at the Frisco passenger and local which were passing. He fell on the tongue of the wagon and a table fell in front of him, the horses began kicking and had the table not afforded some protection he must have been instantly killed. He finally fell from the tongue and was picked up, having many severe gashes and internal wounds the nature and extent of which were never distinctly learned. He suffered intense pain for sometime and died last Monday evening. He regained consciousness for a while and requested the men present to look after his family as he was certain that death was near. He was 72 years old.
