Daniel was the son of Philip and Maria Salome (Steffan) Schmeier of Germany. His parents had 9 children. Philip, Maria and family immigrated after the birth of their third child in 1733. "They came via Rotterdam and Plymouth to Philadelphia along with 66 other families arriving on the ship the Pennsylvania Merchant of London. The ship landed on 18 Sept 1733. Philip took the Oath of Allegiance at the Philadelphia Courthouse of that date. On 3 of Dec 1735 he was granted a land warrant for 200 acres on which they had been living for 2 years. Daniel was born in Macungie, PA where they settled. A deed for the land, called Schmeyehausen, was granted to Philip's son, Daniel, on 9 Mar 1789." Daniel married Catherine Barbara Keiser. He served in the American Revolution.
