Born in Moers On The Rhine, Germany, he was a son of Theodore and Sibilla Planken Trenkelbach, coming to the United States in 1927.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942 until 1945.
Following discharge from the military, he began work at Electric Furnace in Salem as a Fuel Draftsman, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leetonia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary J. Shafer Trenkelbach, whom he married July 9, 1944, and who died July 25, 2006, and a daughter, Louise Leffler.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Hackenson of Lisbon and Susan (Gerry) Less of Leetonia; three sons, James (Gale) Trenkelbach of Jacksonville, Fla., Henry (April) Trenkelbach Jr. of Leetonia, and John (Roxie) Trenkelbach of Calcutta; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Sunday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leetonia with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services Sunday at the church.

Memorials may be made to either the Columbiana Meals on Wheels or the Leetonia Fire Department.
