WESTLAKE, Ohio — Olive Elizabeth (Tolson) Allen, 89, of Westlake, formerly of the Salem area, died at 9:25 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at Westlake Healthcare.

Olive moved in June to Westlake from Copeland Oaks so she could reside near her children.

She was born on Feb. 12, 1917, in Salineville, Ohio, to the late Mathias and Olive Adeline (McPherson) Tolson.

She was a former resident of Salem, Rocky River, Sarasota, Fla., and Sebring, Ohio.

Olive was a homemaker, a member of the Salem First Friends Church and was formerly active in Christian education at the church. She was a 1935 graduate of Salem Senior High School.

Olive was the loving and caring mother to Thomas W. (Nancy) Allen of Westlake and John P. (Jeane) Allen of Rocky River, the beloved grandmother of John Paul, David, Martha and Jim and great-grandmother of Sophie and Ben.

Olive married her loving husband, Gordon E. Allen, in 1936, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 1993.

She is also preceded in death by all four of her brothers, Elmer, Harold, Frank and John Paul Tolson.

The Allen Family received friends and family on Sept. 5, 2006, in the Chapel of Grandview Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Reich of the Beloit Friends Church officiating.

The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Life Care Fund of Copeland Oaks Retirement Community, 800 S. 15th St., Sebring, Ohio 44672.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to the care of the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen Funeral Home, Salem, Ohio.
