LEWIS RAYMOND BRACKMAN, 72, of Columbia Cross Roads, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning, December 30, 2003. Born on December 24, 1931 in LeRoy, he was a son of the late John L. and Hazel Mae (Wilcox) Brackman. He was a member of Canton High School's graduating class of 1949. Mr. Brackman served our country as a sergeant with the US Marines and was a veteran of the Korean War. On June 7, 1952, Lou married Nida Erma Croman in Pottsgorve, PA and together they shared over 51 years together and raised nine children. Lou was employed as a journeyman lineman with Penelec in Towanda for many years, retiring in 1990. He was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Columbia Cross Roads, serving as Lay Leader to the United Methodist Annual Conference, a Conference President of the United Methodist Men and a former President and Trustee of his church's Administrative Board. He also was a member of the Sylvania Lions Club and served as club president. Lou cherished times spent with his family and especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading. He is survived by his beloved wife, Erma; three sons, Lewis R. Brackman Jr., Columbia Cross Roads; Gary Lee Brackman, Stroudsburg, PA; Scott Alan Brackman, Pittsburgh; six daughters; April Kim Lions, Miami, FL; Judy Ann Muff, Magnolia, NJ; Carol May Reiser, Toayuan, Taiwan; Karen Christine Paci, Felton, PA; Amy Beth Sullivan, Columbia Cross Roads. Twenty-two grandchildren: Mary Frances, Jason and Demetria Brackman; Jessica Frenley, Rebecca Brackman, Raymond and Paul Liens; Joshua, Aislinn and Michael Brackman; Jeremy, James and Matthew Huff, Stephanie and Derrick Graff; Nathaniel, Seth and Johnathan Reiser; Lawrence and Jefferson Paci; Dion Jr. and Elizabeth Sullivan. Two Great-grandchildren, Fiaryanna Frenley and Nathaniel Ryan Brackman. Three brothers, Paul Brackman and Owen Brackman of RR 1 Canton, and Charles (Audrey) Brackman, Granville Summit, several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Calling hours were held January 2, 2004 at the Pepper funeral Home, Springbrook Drive. A memorial services was held January 3, 2004 at the Columbia Cross Roads United Methodist Church with Pastor Melvin Good officiating. A private burial will be held in the Windfall Cemetery. –Canton Independent Sentinel.
