Jeff Preiss, age 69, a resident of Sheboygan, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Sheboygan.Jeff was born on March 27, 1946 in Milwaukee to Doris (Bashaw) Preiss and the late Roy Preiss. He graduated from Milwaukee Custer High School with the class of 1964. Jeff attended South Dakota State on a football scholarship and graduated from UW - La Crosse with a teaching degree in History and a minor in Physical Education.

On April 3, 1971, Jeff married Linda McCarthy at First Reformed United Church of Christ in Manitowoc.

He was employed at Valders High School where he taught History, was the Audio Visual Director, and had coached baseball, wrestling and football. Jeff had worked there for 32 years until his retirement in 2001.

He was an avid Fly Fisherman. Jeff fished wherever and whenever he could and enjoyed fishing in the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming, the Norfork River in Arkansas, near Decorah, IA, and locally at the Sheboygan River near Black Wolf Run and the Onion River northwest of Plymouth.

He was involved with Lakeshore Trout Unlimited and Helen Shaw Fly Fishers group. Jeff taught fly tying classes for many years and taught many young people to tie flies for fishing.

He was very honored to be inducted into the Lakeshore Outdoors Conservation Hall of Fame. Jeff was a charter member of the Lakeshore Trout Unlimited Chapter. At one point, he was the proud holder of the record for catching a Rainbow Trout on a 4 lb. weight test line.

Survivors include Jeff's wife of 44 years: Linda; his children: Jenna Rodewald of Manitowoc and her daughters, Callie Preiss (special friend Tyler Gass), Hannah Lesperance and Kiersten Rodewald; Chad (Sarah) Preiss of Alaska and their daughter, Maya; mother: Doris Preiss, Palm Springs, CA; brother: Gregg (Andrea) Preiss, Palm Springs, CA; sister: Margo (Carlos) Kimathi, Palm Springs, CA; brother-in-law: John (Sandy) McCarthy, Cato; sister-in-law: Connie (Tom) O'Malley, Monte Rio, CA; special puppy: Jake; also other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father: Roy; father-in-law and mother-in-law: LeRoy and Ruth McCarthy; son-in-law: Brad Rodewald; and two special friends: Robert "Bob" Melcher and Terry "Gus" Kostrivas.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1248 Lincoln Avenue, Sheboygan with Rev. Gregory Whelton officiating. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.
