BOLINGER, Rex, age 83, of Miami Township, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015. He was born August 21, 1932 in Dayton, OH, to the late Henry and Helen (Wright) Bolinger.

Rex was a Civil War Historian and loved to read books on American History. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge, and traveling. Rex also loved sports, Ohio University football in particular. Rex received a Business degree in Management from Antioch College and attended General Motors Institute.

He went on to work at General Motors, where he retired as an Industrial Engineer after 35 years. He was a long time member of Vandalia Jaycees.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Margaret Jean (Crane) Bolinger; 2nd wife, Emily Ann Bolinger; and stepmother, Mae Bolinger. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Rusty Spitz) Bolinger, of Wilmington, DE; son, Tyler (Rebecca) Bolinger, of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Benjamin, April, Katherine, Samuel and Maxwell; brother, Phillip (Doris) Bolinger; stepsons, Jack (Cathy) and Ned Swartzel; stepdaughter, Cynthia (Mike) Good; and step-grandchildren, Tim, Joey, Brandi, Sarah, and Jeff.

A visitation will be held Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 4:00-7:00pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 11:00am on Friday, December 11, 2015. Burial at Polk Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, 14 Penn Plaza, Suite 1710, New York, NY 10122, or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.

The family would also like to give a special thank you to the Waterford community and staff, the staff at the Fresenius Dialysis of Centerville, and the Kettering Health System for all of their care and support.
