Harold was born December 16, 1916 in Scammon, KS the son of Dale and Arminta Adams. Harold was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Crawford County High School. Harold worked as a mechanic for Joe Lucchi in Cherokee, Kansas and Volkl Dairy where he met his future wife, Viola Volkl. On December 7, 1940 Harold married Viola Volkl in Pioche, Nevada. Harold was a veteran of WWII serving his country by guarding German POW's at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Following his military service, Harold worked as a mechanic and operated his own service station. He later worked for Spencer Chemical; Dickey Clay; Bartos Trailer Park and worked at Meadowbrook Mall as a maintenance man until he was 94.
Harold was of the Lutheran Faith; a member of the Masonic Lodge for 61 years; a Mirza Shrine member for 38 years and cherished driving with the Mirza Hospital Dads to the Shrine Children's Hospital. He was a 4-H Leader for his children and enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting with his son-in-law.
Survivors include his children Edra Meyer and husband Dave of 211 S. Church, Franklin, KS and Joe Adams of Frontenac, KS; very special granddaughter Angela Meyer of Arma, KS; and 2 additional grandchildren Holly Thompson and Joey Adams Jr.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years and 4 siblings.
Funeral Services will be 2:00pm Thursday December 10, 2015 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS with Fr. Thomas Stroot officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. Family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30pm Wednesday December 9, 2015 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS; friends may call after 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Mirza Hospital Dads of Pittsburg.
