Llewellyn A. Mathy, age 76, of 1500 N. Third St., Manitowoc, WI died Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 21, 2006, at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 13, 1930, in Menominee, Mich., son of the late Gordon and Margaret Mathy.

On Oct. 3, 1970, he married the former LaVerne C. Leist, in Menominee, Michigan. Llewellyn was employed at Kelvinator Commercial Products for many years. He was an avid bowler, and loved to work with his hands, especially woodworking.

Survivors include his wife: LaVerne Mathy, Manitowoc, WI; his children: Donna Gretz, Marinette, WI;
Dale Mathy, Woodstock, Ill. [4/1/1953-4/4/2008];
Gordon and Renee Mathy, La.;
Glen and Claudia Leist, Greenville;
Kevin and Sandra Leist, Brillion;
Steven and Michele Leist, Rockford, Ill.;
Rick and Joan Leist, Menasha, WI;
Dennis Leist, Fond du Lac, WI;
Tim and Debra Leist, Menasha, WI;
18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Leighton Mathy, Northbrook, Ill.;
Fran and Sandra Mathy, Little Suamico, WI;
Thomas and Sandra Mathy, Riverside, Ohio;
two sisters: Jackie Mathy, Seattle, Wash.;
Barb Koch, Marinette, WI;
and two sisters-in-law: Margaret Mathy, Ill.; and Gerry Mathy, Marinette. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Roger, Richard, Billy and Donald Mathy; and a brother-in-law: Douglas Koch.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Monsignor Jim Vanden Hogen with burial at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi, on Waldo, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, until the time of service at 11 a.m.
