Carolyn Alice Bancroft Burnham, age 98, died on Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Schmitt Woodland Hills Retirement Community in Richland Center, WI. She was born on June 23, 1917, in Ann Arbor, MI to Blaine Bancroft and Dorothy (Edwards) Bancroft. Carolyn spent her childhood years living in Madison, WI. Her family then moved to Richland Center where she graduated from high school in 1934. She attended University of Wisconsin Platteville, after which she returned to Richland Center to work for Krouskop’s Department Store.
On April 29, 1939, Carolyn married Robert Grant Burnham, who preceded her in death September 25, 1966. She loved to dance and go to movies. She was a wonderful cook, played bridge, and was an excellent homemaker and Mother to her three children. She loved spending time with her family. She was also very active in her church, the Town and Country Presbyterian Church. She and her husband owned The Burnham Jewelry Store, The Empire and Burnham Drug Stores for many years. Carolyn worked in the jewelry store when she was needed, especially during the holidays.
