Earl Harvey Hickman, 89, died on March 23, 2013 at his Portland home. Earl was born on September 29, 1923 to Anna and Bernard Hickman in Portland. He graduated from Benson High School in 1941 and joined the United States Navy, serving his country during World War II. He was honorably discharged and began his 40 year career as an Elevator Constructor with Otis Elevator. Aside from his work, he was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was a member of the free masons.
Earl is survived by his wife of 37 years, Emily Hickman of Portland; sons Bob Hickman (wife, Cammy) of Nehalem, Don Hickman (wife, Nancy) of Portland, Mark Hickman (wife, Barbara) of Scappoose; daughters Teri Melnichuck (husband, Steve) of Portland and Phyllis Crogg (husband, Terry) of Beaverton; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn N. Hickman in 1972.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on Friday, March 29 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Legacy Hospice. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center – Tualatin.
