Frank G. Check, Jr. age 84, of 305 S. Packer Dr., Francis Creek, died unexpectedly, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday evening, December 9, 2015, at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center, Green Bay. Frank was born on February 21, 1931, in Manitowoc, a son of the late Frank and Anna (Kruzicki) Check, Sr. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1949. Following graduation he worked for Newphrey Check Construction, where he served his carpentry apprenticeship. From 1951 to 1953, he served in the U.S. Army with the 508MP, as a Corporal with honorable discharge. Upon his return he worked for Check Construction, Manitowoc Shipbuilding, Craft Roofing and Hamann Construction. On June 11, 1955, Frank married Joyce Wadzinski at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Francis Creek. In 1966, Frank and Joyce started Frank Check Builders, Inc., where he was president until his retirement in 1993. Frank was an assessor for the Village of Francis Creek for many years. He enjoyed traveling, visiting many states, along with Europe, Hawaii and Mexico. He loved their extended winter stays in Florida, with the last four extended Florida trips being with Bruce and Gail, making so many memories. He enjoyed the cottage at Chute Pond, where he did a lot of fishing and hunting. The joy in his life was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchild. Being his daughter's errand and maintenance man, watching his granddaughters grow, being able to dance with them at their weddings, helping them settle into their own homes and very recently being there for the birth of his first great grandson. Frank was such a blessing to all of his family and brought them so much happiness. He would do anything to make his "girls" happy! He will always be their "Papa". Frank was a charter member of the Francis Creek Lions, a charter member and first president of the Man-Cal Home Builders Association (now Manitowoc County Home Builders Association) and a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Francis Creek.Survivors include his wife of 60 years: Joyce; daughter and son-in-law: Gail and Bruce Wegner of Francis Creek; two granddaughters and "grandsons": Heather and Eric Sponholtz and Amber and Nathan Grossenbach, all of Green Bay; and his great grandson: Connor Sponholtz.
