Frank was the son of Jacob Karcher and Catherine Heil. On 21 May 1889 he married Mary Catherine Gebhart and they had four children, three of whom are known: Frank, Lizzie and Henry. He was a long-time farmer. Frank died of cardiac decompensation at his home, 1850 Lincoln Avenue, at the age of 87.
