Alfredo H Fernandez Was born on July 13, 1929 and entered into eternal rest on December 8, 2015.

Alfredo was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Fox Tech High School and after graduating moved to Chicago for three years where he lived with his Uncle Johnny Hernandez and learned his machinery craft.

He was drafted in to the United States Army and served two years during the Korean Conflict.

After his discharge from the army he returned home to San Antonio, Texas where he began his career at Kelly Air Force Base as an Air Craft Machinist.

He married the love of his life, Maria Luisa Cardenas, on December 26, 1954 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church.

Alfredo was a member of the VFW, Harlandale ISD PTA Councils, Band and Athletic Boosters. He was also an active member of St. Leo Catholic Church helping in different capacities.

Soon after he retired from Kelly AFB, he began his wood working crafts, as a member of the Mission Art Group.

He was a loving, caring and generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Santiago and Juanita Fernandez; sisters, Aurora Walden and Velia Buchwald; brothers, Rogelio Fernandez and James (Jimmy) Fernandez.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Maria Luisa Cardenas Fernandez; Children, Ana Maria F. Esparza, Maria Elena Jasso (Juan), Alfredo Jesus Fernandez (Guadalupe), Cecilia Ann F. Canales, Rose Marie F Martinez, David Juan Fernandez (Christine), 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, he is also survived by his sisters Mary Spears, Elva Barrientos (Gilbert) and brother Arturo Fernandez (Elva).

The Family would like to thank the Christus VNA Hospice Care for all the support they provided our father and family during his last couple of weeks.

Public viewing will be Monday December 14, 2015 from 4:30 – 9:00 PM with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Mission Park South. Funeral procession will depart from Mission Park South on Tuesday December 15, 2015 at 8:30 AM for a 9:00 AM Mass of the Resurrection at St Leo the Great Catholic Church, 4415 S. Flores with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.
