A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Main Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Phil Thrailkill and the Rev. Jim Dennis officiating. Burial, with Masonic Rites, will be private.

Visitation:
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Harley Funeral Home remembers Jimmy Burns in Greenwood, SC. James Wiley "Jimmy" Burns, 57, husband of Emmie Parrish Burns, died peacefully on Thursday, December 10, 2015 while surrounded by his family.

Born in Greenwood, he was the son of Betty Smith Burns and the late Joe T. Burns. Jimmy was a graduate of the Greenwood High School Class of 1976 and Piedmont Technical College. He was employed with CenturyLink of SC for 36 years, currently with the position of Area Plant Supervisor and worked part time from 1996-2010 with Greenwood Parks and Recreation as the Youth Sports Supervisor.

Jimmy was a member of Greenwood Lodge #91 A.F.M., where he served as Past Master and Lodge Secretary. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Club and served on the Breakfast Team for many years.

Jimmy was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Burns Gentry and Eric Gentry of Ninety Six; his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Wiley Burns and Lindsay Briskin Burns of Greenwood; his sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Steve Honbaier of Mt. Holly, NC; and his grandchildren, who knew him as "Poppy", Drew Hinton, Emma Pearl Gentry and Ruby Gentry. Another granddaughter is expected in February.

Pallbearers will be his grandson, Drew Hinton, his nephews, Stephen Honbaier, Stephen Parrish and Zan Smith, along with Jeffrey Minor, Bradley Minor, Jimmy Burke and George Harris.

Honorary escort will be the former and current employees of CenturyLink of SC along with Ricky Miles, Randy Miles, Nathan Parrish, Erek Leary and Tommy Holland.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Joanna Sadurski and the staff of the Cancer Center at Self for their care over this past year.
