Sinclair, Cameron Clifford, died on February 13th, 2015. He was 84 years old. He was a vigorous yet compassionate person with an infectious spirit and a love of family. Born and raised in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, Canada, Cameron's father was a farmer and a minister, his mother a midwife. Leaders in the community, they were deeply loved and respected by their son. Attending college in Tennessee, he met Frances Howard. They married in 1949 and had four children. He entered the ministry, then earned a doctorate in Semitic languages from Dropsie University in Philadelphia, PA. Fascinated by language itself, Cameron studied, published and gave scholarly papers around the world in the field of linguistics. In 1967, he joined the faculty of Chapman College in Orange, California. After divorcing, he met Jane Donaghe, a Chapman art professor, and they married in 1968. From 1979 to 1986, he served as the vice president of academic affairs and academic dean of Chapman College. Cameron was a devoted and beloved teacher, retiring as Professor Emeritus in 1997. He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Margaret (Spears) Sinclair, and his youngest daughter, Jill Sinclair. He is survived by his wife, Jane; his children, Connie, Beth and Cory; four grandchildren and a great grandchild. A memorial service will be held in the Interfaith Center, Chapman University, March 7 at 2pm.
