Carole Ann Hastreiter, age 77, a lifelong Manitowoc resident, died Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc. Born December 19, 1937, to Roland and Ione Neilitz. Carole was educated in Manitowoc schools, was a straight-A student, and graduated in 1956. She enjoyed band and orchestra school and this love of music carried over to her being an organist and soloist at St. Paul's Catholic church. She also played and sang for many weddings and funerals in the Manitowoc area. It was while she was in the choir that she met her husband Roger; they were married on June 22, 1957. Along with singing for weddings, she also made wedding cakes for some of the same people whose weddings she had sung for. Carole was a private secretary for several different firms, retiring from WaterCare in 2002, after 32 years. She was a Girl Scout leader for 20 years and a bowling league secretary for 25. She was on many league championship teams and won the Jack Seitz Top 16, and bowled on WBAY while 8 ½ months pregnant with her youngest son! Her skill in the game earned her induction into the MWBA in 2013.Carole always loved to travel. Early in the 80s her family took 2 3-week-long camping trips with her family to the east and west coasts. She visited all 48 contiguous states, as well as Germany, Canada, and Mexico. She was proud of her lifelong, "Little Butch" friendships that continued since high school. Carole is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roger. Her eight children: Chris (Tim) Newton, their daughters Cory (Greg) Romanowski, and Casey (Tim) Entringer and great-grandchilden Kaya, Anya, Abraham, Eloise, and Norah. Jim, and his daughters Cheryl, and Amanda (Chad) Reno and great grandsons Bradey and Ace. Jeff (Carol) and their children Calum and Keely. Connie (Brian) Loose and their twin sons Zach and Drew. Joel (friend Tina Brouchoud) and his daughters Hailey and Heather. John (friend Kelly Zutz) and his daughter Emmy. Cathy (Bryan) Peltonen and their daughter Chloe. And Joshua. She is further survived by 5 sisters and 3 brothers: Jan (Carl) Kaminski, Lory (Ed) Waniger, Art (Elaine) Neilitz, Joan (Mike) Miller, John (Mary) Neilitz, Paul (Ruth) Neilitz, Mary (Mike) Henner, Sherri (Bill) Glandt, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Joseph and Clara, sisters-in-laws and their spouses, Kay (Harold) Braun, Laverne (John) Harrell, nephew Brian Kaminski, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Noon on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Pleier. Entombment will take place at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc at a later date.The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand.
