Ernie L. Tyler, 65, of Northumberland, went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, Dec. 6, 2015, at Heritage Springs, Lewisburg. He was a Shikellamy grad and an alumni of Susquehanna University. His first year of teaching was in Gettysburg. He then came back to Shikellamy where he taught and coached for 33 years. He was known by many as Mr. Tyler. He taught history and math at the middle school and high school grade levels. After he retired from Shikellamy he spent the rest of his teaching years at Sunbury Christian Academy. Others knew him as Coach Tyler. He dedicated a large portion of his life to coaching and through that coaching made a huge impact on so many lives in this area. He was head coach of the Shikellamy Braves football team and most recently the head golf coach at Shikellamy. Ernie was a loving husband and father.
