Darwin C. Ness, 70, 1016 Ronalds St., died Wednesday evening, Dec. 5, 2001, at University Hospitals following a sudden illness. Mr. Ness was born Nov. 8, 1931, in Marshalltown to Gerhardt and Leona (Arney) Ness. He grew up and was educated there, graduating from Marshalltown High School. In 195, he moved to Iowa City and worked for Wickel Typewriter. In 1968, he established Iowa City Typewriter, retiring from the business in 1998. Four brothers and four sisters died earlier.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Iowa Mountaineers.The body will be donated to the University of Iowa, Department of Anatomy.
