Abner and Malinda had 4 children: Sarah Emaline, Eliza Ann, Mary Alice, and William H. Both Sarah and William died as young children. Malinda passed away on the 2nd of May 1862 in Pickaway County, Ohio. On the 8th of May 1864 he married Elizabeth Neuding, also known as the Widow Brown.
Shortly after Abner married Elizabeth they moved to McLean County, Illinois. They had 8 children: Ida Mae, Charles A., Joseph L., James Edgar, Clayton Wesley, Michael Hezekiah, Harley Abner, Fred Emanuel. Ida was the only one to die as a baby; the remainder lived to majority. All of the children were born in McLean County, Illinois.
Abner spent the remainder of his life in Lexington, which is where he passed away.
