DE LEON – Marietta Juanez Conklin Branscum, 71, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006, in a Comanche County hospital. Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006, in First Baptist Church in Tuscola, with the Reverends Buddy Goodgame and Jackie Auvenshine officiating. Burial will be in Tuscola Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Juanez was born June 29, 1935, in Tuscola to Hamilton Acker and Bobbie Louise Edwards Conklin. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1953. In 1954 she worked in First State Bank in Tuscola, married William Cecil Branscum and moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. Mr. Branscum died in 1996. She lived in Abilene before moving to Richland Hills in 1963 and to DeLeon in 2003. She was a cafeteria worker in the Birdville schools. She was a component assembler for Volkswagen and then was an inspector in quality testing for Secor/Corning in the fiber optic cable industry. She was a Baptist.
Preceding her in death were her father and two brothers, Patrick Conklin and Ronald Dale Conklin.
Survivors include her mother, Bobbie Conklin of DeLeon; two daughters, Amy Branscum-Caraway and husband Jimmie of Saginaw and Loretta Williams and husband Rance of Mansfield; one granddaughter, Candice Herken and husband Bryan of Seattle, Washington; one great-grandson Ethan Monroe-Allen Herken; and several nieces, nephews and cousins including Marceille McIntyre and Sue Humphrey of Tuscola.
