Bert M. Sidwell, 79, Town of Franklin, died Friday evening, Oct. 13, 1995, at a Green Bay hospital following a short illness. The son of the late Asil and Geneva (Van Deusen) Sidwell was born Dec. 27, 1915, in Galveston, Texas, and had been a Town of Franklin resident the past 40 years.
Mr. Sidwell and the former Elizabeth B. Ammons were married on Sept. 18, 1937, in Nacogdoches, Texas, and the couple celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary last month. Bert and Elizabeth farmed in the Seymour and Shiocton area until moving to Denmark in 1955. They raised cotton in Texas and cows in Wisconsin. Bert was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth and their children, Milo and Sharon; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie, of San Antonio, Texas; along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Anita Erickson; and a brother, A. M. Sidwell.
Friends may call at the Knutson-Cotter Funeral home in Denmark after 9 a.m. Monday. Funeral services 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor G. Keith Schroerlucke officiating. Burial in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
