Native of the Prussian/German partition of Poland.

A combination of family recollection by a now deceased elderly family member who corresponded extensively, for years, with the writer of these lines, and a preponderance of circumstantial historic evidence found in old records, all which aligns perfectly, and that fully supports the deceased family member's recollection, makes clear and able to confidently accept with certainty that Joe was a son of Wawrzyniec Cywinski, and that Joe's mother was near certainly Wawrzyniec's presumed first wife Anna Ludke Cywinski. (See linked Find A Grave memorial of Wawrzyniec Cywinski for additional details.) Albina Cywinski Romanowski, daughter of Andrzej "Andrew" Cywinski of Nanticoke, Luzerne Co., PA, who was a known definite son of Wawrzyniec, recalled not only that Joe's children Charles and Lena were her known and interacted-with 1st cousins, but also that their father and her father were known brothers of one another. Albina further shared other precise, unique family recollections (such as that Joe's son Charlie's son officially changed his and his marriage family branch's last name from Cywinski to Wynn) that the details have all since then been verified by independent records research. Albina wasn't herself able to personally recall what the first name was of the known Pennsylvania brother of her father, though research findings make abundantly clear that it was this Find A Grave memorial's Jozef/Joseph "Joe" Cywinski.

Per the 1900 Census, in which Joe and family are listed under an erroneous spelling, Servenski, of their Cywinski last name, Joe was born in February 1850.

He was the husband of Katarzyna/Catherine "Katie" Lubiatowski Cywinski, who, per the 1900 Census, Joe wed circa 1882-1883.
