Joseph J. Buchberger, 54, Village of Cleveland marshal, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon while working at the Kohler Co., Kohler, where he had been employed 26 years.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Cleveland. The Rev. Jerome Watry will officiate and burial will bei n St. George Cemetery, Cleveland.

Mr. Buchberger was born May 6, 1912, in the Town of Centerville, son of the late John and Anna Henter Buchberger. He attended St. Wendel Catholic School, Cleveland. He married Loretta Piehl of the Town of Centerville Sept. 18, 1938, at St. Wendel Catholic Church. The couple resided at Cleveland.

He was a member of St. Wendel Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and Holy Name Society. Mr. Buchberger was active in civic affairs and had served for the past four years as village marshal. He was a member of Manitowoc County Sheriff and Deputy Assn.

Survivors are his wife, a son, John, and a daughter, Mary Jane, at home, and three sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Julia) Kress, Mrs. Walter (Ella) Thieleke and Mrs. Henry (Gertrude) Matthias, of Cleveland.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Diane, and a son, Joseph Jr.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel where the Rosary will be said at 8 o'clock this Tuesday evening.
