Donald Francis Rhone, (Deputy Chief, Retired Hamden Police Dept.) husband of Mona (Francoeur) Robblee Rhone, of Hamden, died February 3, 2015 in Branford. He was born on St. Patrick's Day 1929, to John Thomas and Catherine (Malone) Rhone. In addition to his wife, he leaves sons, Ret. Hamden Police Dept. Det. Thomas (Noella) and Timothy Rhone, grandchildren; Katherine, Matthew, Robert (Melissa) and Timothy Rhone, great grandchildren; Timothy Flanagan and Lily Rhone, nieces; Kathleen Kelly, and Patricia (Walter) Salazar, nephews; David (Joan) and William (Karen) Rhone, sister in law, Barbara Rhone, stepsons, Christopher and John (Alyson) Robblee and a step granddaughter, Sage Smith. He was predeceased by brothers, John and William Rhone, a sister, Marion (William) Kelly and an infant daughter, Ellen Rhone. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean era. Upon leaving the army, he became a member of the Department of Police Services in Hamden. The majority of his thirty-one years with the Police Department were with Investigative Services which he truly loved. Donald was an avid golfer and Boston Red Sox fan. His funeral will leave Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden, Saturday at 9:30 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
