Mrs. John (Mary E.) Karbon, age 77, of 8032 Carstens Lake Road, Manitowoc, died Monday afternoon, Feb. 13, 2006, at St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, 8100 Brunner Road, Newton. The Rev. David Beaudry will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with cremation to follow the service.

Mary was born Jan. 13, 1929, in Green Bay, daughter of the late Martin and Elsie Fictum Schweiner. She graduated from Denmark High School in 1947. Mary was married to John L. Karbon Jr. on Sept. 1, 1948, at All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark. She was employed at the Mirro Corporation for 42 years, her last three years as senior consumer consultant. Mary had been a Girl Scout leader in the past in Denmark. She had also been a member of St. Isadore's Altar Society as a treasurer, St. Casimir's Altar Society and was a current member of St. Thomas the Apostle, as well as a member of the YMCA. She was one of the founders of the Newton Firefighter Auxiliary, plus their president.

Survivors include her husband; John of rural Manitowoc; two brothers and sisters-in-law; Jim (Karen) Schweiner of Freedom; Martin (Nancy) Schweiner of Green Bay; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Grace (Harold) Rosenbaum of Greenleaf; Doris Schweiner, SSF of Milwaukee; Pat (Ed) Valenta of Maribel; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law: Lillian (Paul) Kassner; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Bernice (Claude) Christensen; Marcella Balzan; Howard (Rose) Karbon.

Relatives and friends may call at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community on Wednesday (TONIGHT), from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be parish prayer service held this evening at 7:30 p.m.

The Reinhold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc, is serving the family.
