Joseph F. Pilger, 86, a former Francis Creek area resident, died early Thursday morning in Holy Family Extended Care Facility, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be 1:30 a.m. {sic} Saturday in Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville. The Rev. Dale O. Tutje will officiate and burial will be in Melnik Presbyterian Cemetery.

Mr. Pilger was born Dec. 20, 1891, in the Town of Kossuth, son of the late Frank and Mary Hershman Pilger. He married Emma Jung Jan. 27, 1914, and the couple farmed in the Town of Kossuth. Mr. Pilger was also employed with Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. for many years, retiring in 1957. His wife preceded him in death July 16, 1968. He had been a patient at the Extended Care Facility for the past 10 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Viola Koch of Two Rivers; two sisters, Mrs. Albert (Annie) Dolezal of Milwaukee and Mrs. Adolph (Mary) Boechman of Manitowoc, six grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. A daughter, two brothers, a grand-daughter and a son-in-law preceded him in death.

Friends may call in Saur Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday until the time of service.
