MELNIK, Wis. – Charles Rezek, 77, a former resident of Melnik, died in a Manitowoc hospital Friday morning where he had been a patient for the past eight weeks. Prior to entering the hospital, he had suffered a stroke.

Mr. Rezek was born on a farm near Melnik in 1877 and was married to Catherine Rous in 1900. She preceded him in death three years ago. During his youth, he had been employed as a carpenter and for many years, he and his brother, Frank, operated a threshing machine in the area. Later he was employed by the Chicago and North Western Railroad and worked with the company until his retirement a few years ago.

He was a member of the ECBJ for over 50 years and served as the secretary of the organization for over 40 years.

Surviving him are two sons, Joseph, Manitowoc, Rt. 2, and Charles, Providence, R.I.; three daughters, Mrs. Edwin Bonk, Manitowoc; Mrs. Roman Puschel, Kellnersville; and Mrs. Quirin Yindra, Maribel; 10 grandchildren and two-great grandchildren.

The body is at the Sour Funeral Home in Kellnersville where friends may call from 2 p.m. Saturday until the time of services Monday.

The last rites will be conducted by the Rev. Sherwood Roach at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Monday and at the Melnik Presbyterian Church following the rites at the funeral home. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

MELNIK, Wis. – Funeral services for Charles Rezek, 77, a life-long resident of Manitowoc County were conducted at the Sour Funeral Home in Kellnersville and at the Melnik Presbyterian Church Monday afternoon by the Rev. Sherwood Roach. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Roy Rezek, Louis Rezek, Rudolph Miller, Frank Miller, Charles Biely and Daniel Yinda. Honorary pallbearers were Emil Stransky, Edward Straka, Emanuel Fierst, Henry Kliment, Joseph Novy and Milo Dushek.
