Elmer J. Schneider, 61, of Route 2, Plymouth, died Tuesday afternoon at Plymouth Hospital, apparently after suffering a heart attack at his home.

He was born March 23, 1919, in the Town of Schleswig, Manitowoc County, son of Mrs. Celia Spettel Schneider and her late husband, Ferdinand.

He attended Kiel area schools.

On May 10, 1941, he and Edna Bunge were married at Kiel Reformed Church. The couple made their home in Kiel until moving to Elkhart Lake in 1977 and to their present home in the Town of Greenbush in 1979.

Mr. Schneider served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater from 1944 to 1946.

He worked for Buteyn Excavating and Grading Co., Sheboygan; E & S Trucking, Kiel, and, for the past two years, United Feeds, Plymouth.

He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Plymouth.

Surviving are his wife his mother of Willowdale Nursing Home, New Holstein; a son, Jerome of Glenbeulah; two daughters, Cindy Lu Schneider at home and Mrs. LeRoy (Sharon) Schmahl of the Town of Greenbush; seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Salem UCC, Plymouth. The Rev. Lowell Ferguson, pastor, will officiate.

Friends may call at the church from 1 p.m. Friday until the time of services.

The body has been donated to the University of Wisconsin Medical School, Madison, and his eyes have been donated to the Wisconsin Lions Eyebank.
