Dr. William F. Schultz, 74, of 1825 Wisconsin Ave., New Holstein, passed away at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan on March 29, 2001, surrounded by those who loved him.

He was born in Sheboygan on April 26, 1926, a son of Milton W. and Lora Herr Schultz.
He attended Holy Name School and after graduating from Sheboygan North High School in 1944 he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps proudly serving his country until war's end.

After attending the University of Wisconsin, Lakeland College and Marquette University, he moved to Memphis, Tenn., where he graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in 1956. He subsequently entered the University of Tennessee Medical School graduating in 1961. He returned to practice medicine in his home state joining the family practice of Dr. Alvin C. Theiler in Kiel in 1962; in 1966, he began a solo practice of family medicine in Kiel, moving his practice to New Holstein in 1967. He continued in active practice there until January of this year when illness forced him to step aside.

He always told everyone he planned on retiring when the "Good Lord called him."
Dr. Schultz had many varied interests throughout his life including outboard motor racing, ice boating, cruising the Great Lakes with his beloved boat "Schatzie", restoring antique windmills, rebuilding and restoring homestead log cabins, a saw mill and an old plank bridge. He loved Cedar Lake and hi nearby woods, where he spent many hours planting tree and working on an endless number of varied projects.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein and a long standing member of the Sheboygan Yacht Club.

In 1949, he married Anne Entringer of Sheboygan and they had six surviving children, Terrill Schultz of Kiel, Carleen (Jim) Newell of Dunlap, Tenn., Alyssa (James) Schmitt of Kiel, Gaiden (Keith) Voorhans of Sheboygan, Garrett (Ginny) Schultz of Cleveland and Kendall (Ann) Schultz of Kiel.

He later married Judith Christel of New Holstein and they had four children, William, Nicholas, Derek and Courtney, all at home. He is further survived by seven grandchildren one great-grandson; one sister, Joan (Martin) Jacquette of Sheboygan one brother, John (Carmie) Schultz of Campbellsport, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He will be greatly missed by those of whom he taught so much about life and his great zest and energy for life will be irreplaceable.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 2, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein, with the Rev. Frank Weber, officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, town of Schleswig.
