OBITUARY.-- James Curtis, an old and respected citizen of Coshocton county, living near Spring Mountain, died Sunday night. Deceased was eighty-nine years of age on the 15th of September, and on the 14th of that month he went out and shot a lot of squirrels for a birthday day dinner. he was a Virginian by birth. He was a good Democrat and had the respect of all who knew him.

Mr. James Curtis a pioneer citizen of Monroe township, this county, died last week, aged 89 years. he was born in Ohio County, West Virginia, September 15, 1792. He moved to Ohio in 1820, and settled in Coshocton county, near where the village of Mohawk now is, and from there went into Monroe. Ten days prior to his death he was taken ill, and died Sunday evening, December 4th. Mr. Curtis was a member of the Baptist Church for nearly fifty years always living in accordance with his position. Deceased was highly esteemed by all who knew him, which was manifest by the large concourse of people that attended his funeral. He now rests in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, by the side of his wife, who preceded him to the better land twenty-five years ago.
