Daughter of Colonel Sampson Sammons and his wife, Rachel Schoonmaker. Her father and brothers were all soldiers of the Revolution, and key players in Mohawk Valley events. Wife of Henry/Hendrick H. Vrooman. Her father famously said that his daughters could only marry soldiers of the Revolution.

Mother of sons Henry and Sampson, and daughters Rachel, Nelly, and Maria, the latter of whom married Geddes resident Ralph Terry. Mother of Geddes residents David Vrooman (wife Sarah Root), who purchased this plot, and Cathalin Vrooman (husband Noah Smith).

"Jacob (Sammons, her brother) and Elizabeth are buried side by side in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. On a trip to the cemetery in 1992, next to Jacob's grave was an old stone half buried in the lot that David Vrooman purchased. I had the caretaker remove this stone. It was cleaned and the lettering was painted gold. It says,'In Memory of Elizabeth Sammons 1754-1817'. Another common practice, marking women with their maiden names!"
