Charles E. Bass, 83, of 2610 E. Geddes Ave., died at 9:30 a.m. yesterday in his residence after a serious illness of several weeks.
Mr. Bass was a veteran of 53 years’ employment with the Wabash Railroad. A machinist for many years at the Wabash roundhouse, he retired in 1952.
He was born in Kinmundy Jan. 31, 1873. His first wife preceded him in death. He married Clara Daubs in Decatur in 1946.
He was a member of the Nokomis Methodist Church and the Decatur Odd Fellow’s Lodge No. 65.
Besides his wife, he leaves a brother, Myron, Springfield, and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Mose, Independence, Mo.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the J. J Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Nokomis Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
