Ackerman, 93, a resident for 17 years of Amador County, California, a U.S. Navy veteran who served from 1927-31, who published Joey, the Wolf and other accounts of his adventures in the Alaskan frontier, passed away at Bruceville Terrace Convalescent Hospital in Sacramento, California, on Friday, December 21, 2001, following a long battle with cancer. Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, December 27, 2001, 11 a.m., at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 County Road 22, Woodland, California, officiated by Pastor Ray Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated to Lockeford 7th Day Adventist Church, P.O. Drawer B, Lockeford, CA 95237 or 7th Day Adventist Church, 29 Elliott Street, Woodland, CA 95695.
