GROTON -- William J. "Willie" Beard, 75, of Groton and Yarmouth Port, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in Worcester.
He was born in Ayer, MA, September 2, 1940, son of the late William J. Beard and Ruth L. (Ludden) Beard. A lifelong resident of Groton, he attended the Groton schools.
He had been employed at Hollingsworth and Vose Company in West Groton for 47 years in the Maintenance Department. William was a member of the Caleb Butler Lodge AF & AM in Ayer and was a Shriner in the Aleppo Temple. William loved his family, friends and his time on Cape Cod, as well as NASCAR racing.
He survived by his wife of 52 years, Cynthia J. (Hallet) Beard of West Groton; son and daughter-in-law, Michael W. and Lisa (Murphy) Beard and granddaughter, Melissa J. Beard, all of Pepperell, MA; sister, Lois Soule and her husband, Don of Littleton, MA, and sister, Pat Kilbreth of Ayer, MA. William was also the brother-in-law of James Hallet and wife, Trish of Connecticut, Paul and Sandra Hallet of North Carolina, Mark and Sandra Walker of Mont Vernon NH, The Late Jo Ann Derrig, Karen and Lynn Cosper of Arizona, and Mary and Gerry Lewis of Florida.
BEARD -- William J. "Willie" Beard, 75, of Groton, passed away Wed., December 16, 2015. A Funeral Service will be held 11 A.M., Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Hamilton-McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113), Pepperell. Relatives and friends will be received by the family from 10 - 11 AM prior to the Service. Burial will be in Groton Cemetery.
