John Henry Thomas

Salisbury-John Henry Thomas, Sr., 85, of Salisbury, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 24, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wenona, he was the son of the late Cooper Henry Thomas and Leila Beryl Webster Thomas. He was a proud descendant of Joshua Thomas, parson of the island.

Henry was a faithful and dedicated Christian, being saved in 1973 at a revival meeting at the Parkway Church of God. He was a member of Parkway Church of God and also attended other local churches. He worked for several employers over the years, including, Chris Craft, DuPont and Occidental Chemical. He enjoyed witnessing to others, sharing his testimony, and spending time with his family. Henry encouraged everyone to trust, obey and pray. He was a hard worker and a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce Ann Lewis Thomas; 2 children, John Henry Thomas, Jr. of Delmar, and Kimberly Sue-Ann Thompson & her husband, David of Salisbury; 2 grandchildren, Jenna Sue-Ann Payne & her fiancée, JD Hook, and Forrest Thomas Payne; a sister, Margaret Peggy Daniels of Salisbury; a brother, Richard Cooper Thomas of Salisbury; a niece, Sharon Daniels James & her husband, Butch of Salisbury; and several nieces, nephews & cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 29th, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. There will be visitations on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00pm and also on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Wicomico Memorial Park. Officiating will be Reverends, John Kalfayan, William Reid, Greg Morris, Jay Hurley and Sonny Benton.

The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the care given to Mr. Thomas by the Intensive Care Unit at PRMC, Coastal Hospice and a friend, Marty Smith.
