N. A. Whitten, 90, of Bagwell died Thursday, May 30, at Red River Haven Nursing Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Anderson officiating. Burial will be in New Shamrock Cemetery. Mr. Whitten was born in Laneburg, Ark., on May 20, 1894, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Whitten. He was a Baptist. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the U.S. Army. Surviving are three daughters, Dell Berryhill of Bagwell, Christine Harp of Paris and Alvena Vickers of Fort Worth; one sister, Belle Snelson of Arthur City; one brother, Ellis Whitten of El Dorado, Ark; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
