David K Chugg, 71, Pocatello , passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 27, 2015, from serious of health problems since 2011. He was born in Soda Springs, Idaho on January 4, 1944 to Vern Albert and Goldie Arilla Skinner Chugg. David was the youngest of 5 children; 2 sisters Arilla and Norita; and 2 brothers William and Ray. He was educated in Soda Springs, but graduated from Pocatello High School in1963 after moving to Pocatello with his mother being transferred by Mountain Bell. He attended ISU and obtained a certification in Business Machine and Repair, while working at Stan’s Conoco. It was there that he met his future wife, Suzanne Whitehead. They were married on September 25, 1965 in Twins Falls, Idaho (recently celebrating their 50th anniversary). They were later sealed for eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. David was soon to be drafted during the Vietnam War, but was recruited by the Army Reserves, and served his active duty at Fort Lee, Virginia to work on machines around the capital. Returning from active duty, the David and Suzanne purchased the Conoco station and operated it (Dave’s Conoco) for six years. David was hired by Union Pacific Railroad in1972, retiring 30 years later. He began as a machinist, and worked in the locomotive shop, as a night General Foreman, and ended his career as the Wheel Shop Foreman. He loved his work and the men who worked for him. David and Suzanne had 2 daughters, Megan Elizabeth in 1966, and Aimee Sue in 1970. David loved his girls, attended all their activities, and spent many great vacations with them. David bought his first Harley motorcycle in 1995 and rode until he was to ill to continue. He enjoyed his many trips with Juel Bristol, Clayton Nelson and his daughter Megan and her husband Fred Chilson. David was an active member of the Alameda 7th ward. Serving in many callings. He especially enjoyed his home teaching assignment. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Suzanne; daughters Megan (Fred) Chilson and Aimee Cutler; grandchildren, Gabriel and Jayden Chilson; Seth Olsen, Selina Olsen, Joshua Olsen, and Emma Olsen; and great granddaughter Quinleigh Abella Ellis. He was preceded in death by both parents; sister Arilla; brother William; and grandson Roman Ellis. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 11 am in the Alameda LDS Stake Center, 930 East Alameda, Pocatello. Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday evening in the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, 232-0542, and one hour prior to services Saturday in the church. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello, with military graveside rites. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.cornelisonfh.com
