Funeral services for Dennis McNutt were held on Friday, March 21, 2014 in the chapel of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home, Bros. Arnold Norsworthy and Ross Ford officiated. Burial followed in the Alexandria Memorial Gardens.

Dennis Reginald McNutt, 89, was united with our Lord and Savior on March 16, 2014. Mr. McNutt was born in Cheneyville, LA, on December 26, 1924, to Ruby Louise Walker and Edgar Francis McNutt. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, and Thelma McCann; brothers Bobby Joe McNutt and Wayne Edgar McNutt and wife Carrie; sister-in-law Velma Roy McNutt; brother-in-law Horace McCann; and his nephews Randy McNutt, Robert McCann, and Lee McCann.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years of Cheneyville; daughter; daughter-in-law; three granddaughters; two grandsons; step-grandson; four great grandchildren; his twin brother and sister-in-law ; his older brother, Walker McNutt and sister-in-law; his brother-in-law and wife; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dennis was raised in Cheneyville, Louisiana, where he attended elementary and high school, and where he met the love of his life. He and her were life-long members of Beulah Baptist Church where he was a devoted deacon. He was an exemplary farmer as co-partner of McNutt Brothers Farms; he loved the outdoors and the beloved woods in which he hunted since childhood enjoying many domino games at "Armadillo Ranch" and the M&M Hunting Club. He also enjoyed traveling to Colorado during the summer and fall months where he would go elk hunting with his son Reggie. When he wasn't hunting or farming he enjoyed sharing special moments outside on the swing with his daughter.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dennis' countless friends and extended family who loved and continue to show their love for Dennis and his family; he was truly blessed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Beulah Baptist Church in memory of Dennis McNutt.
