Audrey B. Pelner, age 100, of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, December 29, 2015, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center with her loving daughter at her side. The former Audrey Lawrence was born on July 10, 1915 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late William and Rose (Benzinger) Lawrence. Audrey attended local schools and was a 1933 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On May 4, 1940 Audrey was married to Ben J. Pelner at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1992. Audrey worked as a bookkeeper at Stangel Hardware and retired from Triad Radio in 1976. She also volunteered at Holy Family Hospital for 22 years. Audrey was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the Manitowoc Yacht Club Auxiliary. She loved to travel and knit.Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Kathleen (Kenneth) Lodl, Manitowoc; two granddaughters: Tammy (David) Johnsen, Bolingbrook, IL; Lisa (Steve) Buoniconti, Agawam, MA; three grandchildren: Nicholas Johnsen; Ben Belanger and Maggie Belanger, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Rose Lawrence; her husband: Ben J. Pelner.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Dave Pleier will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum.
