Irene Martin Haywood Holland, 87, of Columbus, Ga., died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at Columbus Hospice House. Born in Dublin, Ga., Irene was the daughter of the late Walter E. Haywood and Irene Martin Haywood. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Holland; one son, David W. Holland; three sisters, Alice Virginia Haywood, Margaret Haywood and Barbara Sharpe; and one grandson, William Barksdale.

Survivors include three daughters, Anne Holland Fox and husband, Claude, Joan Holland Barksdale and husband, Gordon, of Decatur, Ala., and Patricia Holland Waldrop; one son, James Thomas Holland and wife, Susan; three sisters, Augusta Ethington of Tucker, Ga., and Ruth Evert and Jane Grogan, both of Columbus; a brother, Walter E. Haywood of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Amelia Fox Larsen, Betsey Abernathy, Jeffrey Barksdale, Elise Barksdale, E. Shelton Evans IV, Beth Wells, Josh Holland, and John Cayle Holland; and six great-grandchildren, Cole Barksdale, E. Shelton Evans V, Hannah Wells, Cain Smith, Bailey Smith, and Kirra Holland.
