His wife-to-be, Ingeboro came from Norway in 1850 at the even younger age of 5. Having lived her youngest years in Nord-Aurdal and Oyer, she traveled with her parents, John Lassesen ( Larson) and Ingeborg Larsdatter.
While we have no Civil War source for confirmation, according to Manitowoc-skogen by Robert A. Bjerke, Lola's paternal grandfather, Tollef, served the Union in Company A of the 56th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. We do know that Tollef was in Valders for his wedding day on December 1, 1863. He was 20 and his 18 year old bride, Ingeboro, was 3 ½ weeks shy of giving birth to their first child, Christine Marie.
