Mrs. Otto G. Berge, 85, of Valders, died Friday morning at home after
a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m .Monday at Valders Evangelical Lutheran
Church, the Rev. Robert Onnka officiating. Burial will be in the church
cemetery at Valders.
Mrs. Berge was born Anna Sophia Larson Oct. 13, 1875, in the Town of Cato,
daughter of the late Kittel and Kari Wolstad Larson. Her husband is former
Valders postmaster and past owner of Berge Funeral Home and Furniture Store
at Valders. He is also past president of Valders State Bank.
Mrs. Berge was married to Otto Berge June 28, 1899, in Gjerpen Lutheran
Church, Valders. The couple always lived at Valders. She was a member of
the Ladies Aid Society of the church and a charter member of the Women’s
Progressive Club of Valders. The couple celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary
June 28, 1949, and its 60th June 28, 1959.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Guilford of Valders, Marvin of
DeKalb, Ill., and Arthur of Campbellsport, Fond du Lac County; a daughter,
Mrs. Arline Tomlinson of Minneapolis, Minn.; eight grandchildren and 10
great grandchildren.
Friends may call at Berge Funeral Home, Valders, after 2 p.m. Sunday until
noon Monday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until
the time of service.
