Andrew W. Berge, 87, of Valders, died Monday morning at home after
a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran
Church, West Valders, the Rev. Robert A. Onkka, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Berge was born Feb. 23, 1874, in the Town of Liberty, Manitowoc
County, son of the late Ole and Berit Weblin Berge. He worked at the
old Valders grain elevator for a number of years before he took up
farming in the Town of Liberty. He married Mable Gilbertson June 10,
1908, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Valders, and they resided there
until 1916. He retired in 1956 after 40 years of farming in the Town
of Liberty.
He was an assessor in the township for five years and a former treasurer
of Faith Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of the
church. A sister and three brothers preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Harold, of Fond du Lac; two daughters,
Mrs. Walter Busse, of Sheboygan and Mrs. Andrew Kosowski, of Chicago; a
sister, Mrs. Molla Finkelson, of Manitowoc and 10 grandchildren.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Farley Funeral Home, Valders,
until noon Wednesday when the casket will be moved to the church, where
the body may be viewed until the time of service.
